March 7, Saturday (2 to 5 pm)
Beginner-friendly class suitable for ages 12 to adult.
A beginner-friendly handbuilding workshop. If you’ve always wanted to try pottery but didn’t know where to start, this is a great place to experience the craft.
What We’ll Do
Over three hours, you’ll learn two foundational handbuilding techniques:
• Pinch pots
• Coiling
I’ll also tell you about the whole process involved in making a pot from start to finish, from a ball of clay to a finished ceramic piece.
Using just your hands (and minimal tools), you’ll understand how versatile these techniques are as you build a beautiful little vase from scratch, which you’ll take home with you.
The process is slow, grounding, and deeply therapeutic. Clay has a way of quieting the mind, and this session is designed to let you fully experience that.
As a special addition, you’ll also get a short, guided experience on the potter’s wheel. If you’ve been curious about how it feels to sit at the wheel and shape clay as it spins, this is your moment. I’ll guide you closely through this part so you feel supported and confident throughout.
What You’ll Walk Away With
• A finished handbuilt vase made by you
• A foundational understanding of pinch and coil techniques
• A brief, guided introduction to the potter’s wheel
• A calm, joyful creative experience
All materials are included.
Please bring a small box or container to safely carry your vase home.
Come ready to slow down, get your hands messy, and create something beautiful from a simple lump of clay.
